pop matrix (real name Alejandro Rubilar) is a Chilean composer of electronic music and sound artist. His work is an open project of experimental electronic music aimed at shaping sound environments, atmospheres, and textures through different sampling and looping processes in a variety of analog-digital processing devices. This project also includes a production line oriented to club music through drum programming, patching processes in analog sources and other sequencing processes. Its sound is a balance of sound continuity and timbral versatility.

In 2013 Rubilar receive a specialization in Sound Art from Universidad de Chile. He is currently a master’s student in Music Technology at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México where he conducts a research related to the aesthetic implications of the loop in the context of experimental electronic music under the tutorship of Dr. Rodrigo Sigal Sefchovich.
